Abstract
Anaemia is one of the most common diseases especially in developing countries. The most common cause of anaemia in children is iron deficiency, althouth chronic infections, parasitic infestation, and congenital diseases are also important. In this survey 997 rural children 6-60 month were selected by simple stratified random sampling. Ferritin, haemoglobin, MCV, MCH, weight, height, sex, and mothers education were determined. The results showed that 8. 5 have iron deficiency and 4 iron deficiency anaemia. The prevalence of iron deficiency anaemia decreases with increasing age and it is most prevalent between 6-23 month.
