Abstract
Aflatoxins are natural fungous toxins made by Aspergillus species. The toxins can cause tissue necrosis. In this study, nanoliponiosomes containing ginger extract were synthetized and their antifungal effect on the growth and Aflatoxin production of Aspergillus flavus and Aspergillus parasiticus fungi was studied. Physiochemical characteristics of the sample were determined using XRD, FTIR, AFM, DLS and SEM. The resultant nanostructure can operation as an angiogenesis promoter and provide antifungal nanocarrier for improving the wound healing process. Antifungal activity of ginger extract was determined by disc diffusion and microplate dilution methods. The inhibitory effect of extract on Aflatoxin-B-1 production was investigated using MIC method. Ginger concentration, cholesterol, SPAN-60 and DPPC were optimized by response surface method. FTIR analysis showed that ginger extract and nanoliponiosome had no chemical interaction resulting in the change of functional groups. SEM observation showed the spherical morphology of particles and the average size of 95 nm. It was also found out that ginger extract had a stronger antifungal effect against Aspergillus flavus fungus compared to Aspergillus parasiticus fungus. The results of this study showed that the ginger extract loaded nanoliponiosomes can be promising antifungal agents for improving wound healing process with high antifungal effects and low side effects.
